5 years ago, I heard Steve Johnson, author of “Future, Perfect: The Case for Progress in a Network Age,” say, “We lack in our society compelling master narratives about mass collaboration, other than the civil rights movement.”
Okay.
Then he said, “It’s easy to read the Steve Jobs biography; it’s much harder to read the history of 100s of people who invented the internet. We need those myths to animate and inspire us. We need to simplify so we a lodestar to guide us.”
